Senior Care in Broadripple, IN – September is Self-Improvement Month!
Maybe in your younger years your parents, teachers, or other people had told you that it was okay to strive to be perfect at something. Striving for perfection means that you are constantly working at improving yourself. When you receive any type of senior care, it might mean that you are having trouble tending to various aspects of your daily care needs.
That doesn’t mean that you should stop trying to improve yourself on a regular basis.
What is the point of trying to be better when the end of your life is near?
This question is common among seniors who require any type of home services. Thinking that you are at the end stages of your life can be a depressing concept. The truth is that no matter how old you are or what type of health problems you have, it doesn’t mean that life has come to an end for you.
You may have several years to take part in various activities, spend with friends, and see family members and other loved ones through the years.
If you give up on self-improvement because of your age or because you are no longer able to do certain things, then you are missing out on an incredible opportunity to not only be an inspiration to others, but to also feel better about yourself.
How do we strive for perfection when we are in our 70s or 80s?
Since you are considered a senior citizen, you probably well know at this point that nobody’s perfect and that perfection is, for human beings at least, unattainable. The doesn’t mean that we have to stop working at improving ourselves.
If you rely on senior care, there may be things that you can no longer do for yourself safely. This doesn’t mean that you have to stop doing other things as well. One habit that far too many seniors get into when they hire senior home services is that the more that the caregiver does for them, the less they try to do for themselves.
Don’t get into this habit. If you are fully capable of doing your own laundry or putting the dishes away, make sure that you do this. The caregiver may assist you with this, but taking care of yourself will still reward you with increased self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment.
September is Self Improvement Month and it’s good advice for everyone, regardless of their age.
