Become a Champion for Alzheimer’s Research

More than 3 million cases of Alzheimer’s are diagnosed in the U.S. per year. So it’s quite possible you’ve been personally impacted by this devastating disease that Great Care works so compassionately to combat.
If your experience with Alzheimer’s has motivated you to a calling of advocating for patients, and their families and caregivers, the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) may be your outlet. If you’re asking yourself, “How can I help?” join AMI, the Alzheimer’s Association, and advocates in asking for increased funding for Alzheimer’s research.
Recently, advocates have asked to approve a $425 million increase in research funding for Alzheimer’s and dementia for the government’s 2019 budget. Through this online portal, you can submit your info reminding Congress that “Alzheimer’s is the only leading cause of death in America without a way to prevent, cure, or even slow its progression.” Also:
• Alzheimer’s is the most expensive disease in America.
• In 2018, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the United States $277 billion, with $186 billion being borne by Medicare and Medicaid.
• Nearly one out of five Medicare dollars is spent on a person with Alzheimer’s.
The campaign states that, “ … unless the U.S. moves quickly to address this crisis, and find better treatments for those who have it, these costs will grow swiftly in lock step with the numbers of those affected.”
And Alzheimer’s will increasingly overwhelm our health care system, reports AIM.
The campaign urges members of Congress to support a $425 million increase for research funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Alzheimer’s disease for FY 2019.
To officially join AIM, complete the online form and donate a minimum $20 annual membership fee to the nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization working in strategic partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association to make Alzheimer’s a national priority.
Gain access to member exclusive benefits and opportunities, and contribute to AIMPAC.
“AIM relies on the support of its members to advance the Alzheimer’s agenda in Washington,” says the nonprofit org. “Join the AIM movement and help us push Washington to do its part to end Alzheimer’s.”
The Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) is the advocacy arm of the Alzheimer’s Association. AIM advances and develops policies to overcome Alzheimer’s disease through increased investment in research, enhanced care and improved support. Learn more at alzimpact.org.
